Student Support: Information, Advice and Guidance

Signposting and Referral Service

Our Student Services Officer can offer you information, advice and guidance to help you put your educational and employment goals first.

If you’re struggling to get to class and focus on your work because of your personal circumstances you can make an appointment at reception to see Student Support where you can get help to:
  • Make contact with specialist organisations who can help you with issues such as housing, mental health, emotional support, physical health, sexual health, legal advice, financial advice, advocacy and food banks.
  • Make contact with organisations who offer training to compliment what you’re learning at ACE such as one to one reading support and community ESOL opportunities.
  • Make contact with organisations who can help you find a job or get into volunteering.
  • Student Services can also help you apply for financial support towards bus fares, childcare and course fees, progress between courses or progress to further education or university.

Routes to Work

If you live in Tameside and have a disability or long term health condition that is preventing you from finding employment, Routes to Work can help you.

They are a supported employment service within Tameside Council offering advice, support and practical assistance for people with disabilities.

They offer a tailor made package of support individual to you.

This includes assessing your experiences, any relevant training that you have had and any qualifications that you have gained and finding out what job you want to do, what skills you have and what support needs you require.

They can maximise your chances of getting the right job by helping to:

  • Produce your CV
  • Practice interview skills
  • Accompany you to the interview
  • We will guide you through the recruitment process
