ADHD and Autism Diagnostic Assessment Pathway Update

Average Pathway Waiting Times:

Below are the current waiting times for the diagnostic assessment pathways for both ADHD and Autism, from the time you have received an acceptance letter to diagnosis or feedback, in either of these pathways, from Healthy Young Minds.

December 2020
  • Number of referrals with a referral reason marked as ADHD or Autism – 49 on average per month in 2020.  with 441 requests for a diagnostic assessment since 01APR2020.
  • Average length of time from acceptance onto the pathway to feedback / diagnosis as at 30SEP20
    • ADHD: 47 Weeks
    • ASC: 73 weeks

We recognise that these are long waiting times and are working with partners to continuously look at ways we can improve the process and your journey through this. 
We will look to update these waiting times quarterly and update on the Local Offer Autism pages
 

Available Waiting list support: 

At Healthy Young Minds we wholly recognise the length of our current waiting lists, and while we are working on making things better we do note that the following support is available to you:
 
  • For pathway queries please email: pcn-tr.info.tghym@nhs.net please include the details of the child or young person. The HYM service will review these queries weekly.
  • Access existing support through your local school SenCo and SEN team.
  • Since April 2020 all referrals will have a case manager once accepted, if you need support and advice from a specialist then please contact the HYM service on 01617163600 to access one of the Tuesday Consultation slots with one of our Neuro Specialists. This could be delivered digitally, over the phone or where there are risks, we can support face to face.  You can access more than one consultation appoint if you need to.
  • Autism Solihull Online Support Module is now available – FREE resource
  • Within the local offer you will also find other useful commissioned local services available which can be accessed whilst you're awaiting the outcome of one of our neurodevelopmental diagnostic pathways. This could include support for the child from Kooth digital, TOG Mind (the Hive), or the booked drop in (the Talkshop) at Anthony Seddon Fund.

Parent / Carer Feedback

In addition to the above we will look to reinstate the parent / carer feedback sessions. These will be run quarterly and will be planned in virtually considering the current pandemic.
