County Lines
**County Lines – What You Need to Know**
County Lines is when criminals send young people to different places to sell drugs for them. They often trick, pressure, or force young people into working for them, and it can be very dangerous. But **you can stay safe, and help protect others too!**
#### **1. How Do County Lines Work?**
Criminals use mobile phones to run drug-selling operations. They send young people to towns and cities to sell drugs, often far away from home. They might:
- Offer money, gifts, or free things to make it seem exciting.
- Lie and say it’s a "job" or an easy way to make money.
- Make young people feel trapped and unable to leave.
#### **2. Who Do They Target?**
They often target young people who:
- Are struggling with money or problems at home.
- Want to feel important or included.
- Might not know the dangers.
They **don't care** about the young person's safety—they only care about making money.
3. Why Is County Lines Dangerous?
Being involved in County Lines can put young people in danger, including:
- Getting hurt by older criminals.
- Being arrested by the police.
- Feeling scared or unable to escape.
It's **not** a safe or fun way to make money—it's dangerous and unfair.
4. How Can You Stay Safe?
If someone offers you money or gifts to do something that feels wrong, **say no and walk away**. You can also:
- Talk to a trusted adult if you're worried.
- Look out for friends who may be in danger.
- Never agree to take or deliver anything for someone you don’t trust.
5. Who Can Help?
If you think someone is involved in County Lines, or if you're worried about yourself or a friend, **talk to a teacher, parent, or police officer**. There are also charities that help young people stay safe.
