House Party Safety – Have Fun & Stay Safe!
Going to a house party can be exciting! It’s a chance to hang out with friends, dance, and have fun. But it’s also important to stay safe and make good choices so that the night stays enjoyable for everyone.
1. Know Where You're Going
Before heading to a party, make sure you know:
- Who's hosting the party.
- Where it is and how you're getting home.
- If it's safe and supervised.
If something doesn't feel right, it's okay to say no and not go.
2. Stay With Friends
It's always safer to go to a party with friends you trust. Stick together, check in with each other, and don’t leave anyone behind.
3. Be Careful with Drinks
If there are drinks at a party, never take one from someone you don’t know or leave your drink unattended. If you feel strange or dizzy after drinking something, tell a trusted friend or adult right away.
4. Avoid Peer Pressure
Sometimes people at parties might encourage others to do things they don’t want to—like drink alcohol, take drugs, or act dangerously. If you’re feeling pressured, say no and walk away. True friends won’t force you to do something that makes you uncomfortable.
5. Know How to Get Home
Before the party starts, make sure you have a plan to get home safely. Whether it’s a parent picking you up, a taxi, or a bus route, never go home alone or with strangers.
6. If Something Feels Wrong, Leave
If a party gets out of control, feels unsafe, or makes you uncomfortable, trust your instincts and leave. You don’t have to stay just because your friends are there.
7. Who Can Help?
If you ever feel worried about party safety, talk to a parent, teacher, or another trusted adult. If something happens at a party that makes you uncomfortable, tell someone—you are never alone!
