THERE’S lots going on in Tameside’s town centres in the run-up to Christmas. Come and join in the fun and find some great bargains and gifts into the process.

Saturday, 20 November
Hyde: Northern Lights winter lantern parade sets from Corporation Street at 6pm and then makes its way along Oldham Street, Chapel Street and Market Street to the town hall.
 
There’ll also be a winter market in Hyde (9am to 4pm) with fairground rides. Draco the Dragon will be around all day as well as a “Harry Rutherford” artist who’ll be sketching and talking to people from 11am.
Following the conclusion of the parade a lights switch-on takes place at 7pm.
 
Friday, November 26
Audenshaw: Food stalls and Santa’s grotto. 4 to 7pm at Ryecroft Hall with Christmas lights switch-on at 7pm.
Dukinfield: Carols and Father Christmas at the town hall plus a post box for letters to Santa. 5.30-6.35pm.
Micklehurst: Lights switch-on, mystical creatures and an appearance by Father Christmas. Junction of Micklehurst Road and Station Road, 6 to 7pm.
Stalybridge: Father Christmas and festive singing and dancing in Armentieres Square, 4.30 to 7pm. Lights switch-on at 7pm.
 
Saturday, November 27
Ashton: Festive artisan market, brass band and choir. Market Place, 9am to 4pm.
Denton: Festive shopping in the town centre. The Mayor and Father Christmas will switch on the lights at 6pm.
Droylsden: Festive market, Father Christmas and lights switch-on, 1 to 5pm in town centre.
Mossley: Music, mystical creatures and family fun on the market ground. Bring your own lantern. 5 to 8.30pm with lights switch-on at 7.30pm.
 
Friday, December 3
Audenshaw Memorial Gardens: 6.30 to 8pm – community lights switch-on.
Hattersley: Christmas market at Hattersley Hub, 4 to 6pm. Lights switch-on at 6pm.
 
Saturday, December 4
Ashton: Meet the Snowman and the Snowdog on Ashton Market from 11am and visit Father Christmas courtesy of Ashton Town Team. To celebrate Small Business Saturday, when people are encouraged to shop at independent retailers, Tameside College students will be offering delicious seasonal and Caribbean food, running a tombola, braiding children’s hair and face-painting.
Hollingworth: Father Christmas, lantern procession and Christmas tree lights switch-on. Treacle Gardens, Market Street, 3.30 to 4pm.
 
Saturdays 11 and 18 December
Hyde Fundraisers will be at Hyde and Ashton markets. Watch out for well-known characters from television and films.
