Councillor Adrian Pearce

Ward: Stalybridge North

Annual Report of Activities 2015/16

Participation at Council Meetings and Panels

During 2015-16, i have attended all Council meetings. I have also been a member of two Scrutiny Panels: Place and External partners. The latter included sitting upon a Working Group considering the impact of various initiatives to reduce victim based crime.

Participation at District Assemblies

I have attended 3 of the 4 meetings of the Mossley and Stalybridge District Assembly.

Participation on Outside Bodies and Partnerships

I have been a Board Member on the Ridgehill Big Local and have encouraged the development of a long term plan, to ensure that the money acquired benefits the residents of Ridgehill once the grant has been spent. I have supported the Big Local to run various events to raise its profile to get more local people particularly young people involved.

I have also represented the Council on the Stalybridge Town Team which has run a number of successful events and helped to re-establish the monthly Farmers'/Craft market.

Beside this, I have attended Labour Group meetings and expended time and effort to revive the fortunes of Stalybridge Labour Club.

Constituency Work

Some of the work I have undertaken in the local constituency includes:
working to achieve better public transport provision
Supporting the annual band contest,
Supporting the annual pensioners' Christmas party along with all members representing Stalybridge

Attending Civic Events

Providing help and support for local residents including problems relating to bins, highways, lighting, dog fouling, crime, housing.

Members Advice Surgeries

Initially I supported Cllr Welsh at his surgery at the Stalybridge Labour Club to gain experience. From October, I have conducted a monthly advice surgery at St. George's church.

Training and Development

I have attended training events when appropriate and have worked with other Councillors to share experience and knowledge.

Achievements during the Year

Despite Government cuts, I have attempted to support the local community to obtain the services they deserve by providing advice, information and access to officers from the Council and other organisations to resolve issues and promote local initiatives.

Any other comments

This has been my first year as an elected member of the Council. It has been a great honour to represent the people of Stalybridge North which I have attempted to do to my utmost ability. It has been a great learning experience for me. It is a time of great change, pressure on local services and the people delivering them to whom I offer my thanks.

One of my top priorities for 2016-17 is to reinforce our efforts to revitalise our town; so that is what I intend to do through the Town Team and other initiatives.
