I have attended training sessions this year which have included the following:

• Health & Well Being within Tameside
• Finance.
• Recycling in Tameside
• 2016/17 budget.

Achievements during the Year

Along with my ward colleagues we attempt to have a continuous dialogue with as many residents as we are able to do throughout the year. We do this my having regular walkabouts and dealing with ward work out on the streets. In addition we have organised and support a number of very successful residents groups which meet on a regular basis. These include:

• Hillgate - Indian Community Centre
• Alexander St/Leam St/Princess St – Hurst Methodist Church
• Tameside Hospital Local Neighbourhood Liaison Group
• Egerton St area – St James Church
• Support to Cockbrook Area Homewatch - Ashton 6th Form College

We have also supported the established Currier Lane Residents Association (CLARA) on a specific issue.

Ashton-under-Lyne has many initiatives either planned or underway which represents significant challenge. Amongst the projects are .

• "Vision Tameside" - bringing a new Tameside College campus into the Town Centre – which this year has seen the first tranche of students move to the new facility
• Ashton Civic Square development – where the new “outdoor” market stalls are beginning to be occupied
• Ashton “Old Baths” into a business hub – where we have now seen the building work of this fabulous building completed and we now move to occupy the facility.
• Transport Interchange based in Ashton.

Any other comments

I look forward to continue to work with local residents to try and resolve their issues. I support Ashton Town Centre and promote the 650 independent who are trading. I have met with business owners to listen to their views on our town and promote their ideas in the various forums relating to our new developments.

I have spoken about Tameside and in particular Ashton Town Centre developments in the local media.

I continue to try to get Ashton-under-Lyne and St Michaels to be best placed for any investment opportunities.
