Participation on Outside Bodies and Partnerships

• I am the Chair of the Friends of Mossley Station
• I am Councillor for Roughtown Ward on Mossley Town Council

Participation on School Governing Bodies

• I am the LEA governor for Milton St Johns where I am a member of the Health and Safety committee and the ICT link governor. I work hard, acting as the link between the school and the council, to get issues resolved quickly.

Constituency Work

As the cuts to the council budget have continued it has become more apparent to the community with services further cut in more noticeable ways; it has therefore been a busy year. I continued to carry out much of my ward work online/via social media as well as traditional ways of face-to-face and phone. This approach has enabled me to resolve issues quickly. This year, with regret, I decided would be my final year as a Councillor. I thank the community for their support and for their interactions with me. I hope it made a difference.

Work includes:
• Supporting residents with their waste collections by answering queries, ordering bins and following up on problem areas.
• Dealing with regular issues i.e. missed bin collections, dog fouling, overgrown paths, antisocial behaviour, noise pollution, abandoned buildings, graffiti, pot holes, fly tipping, retaining walls and issues personal to residents.
• Working with community groups to help secure funding, equipment and/or assistance with events.
• I attend local events such as fairs, coffee mornings, openings and community gatherings and where possible, participate in them.
• Working closely with local police services to help disseminate messages and working on local crime reduction initiatives.

Members Advice Surgeries

I work with my fellow Councillors to hold roving and static surgeries around the town of which residents are notified by letter when we visit their area. I will continue to develop this over the next year.

Training and Development

I attended member training and development events that help to enable me to carry out my role effectively.

Achievements during the Year

1. Health and community - Working with The Real Mossley and Northwest Ambulance Service on the defibrillator project to get a unit installed Mossley train station. This was delivered along with free training provided by the community.
2. Pride in Mossley – Coordinating the Mossley Mice project that saw artwork designed by local school children being made into anti dog fouling and littering signs. These will be going up around the town shortly along with a town-wide campaign.
3. Greening the town - I'm also proud to be involved with Mossley Litter Bugs who work to clean up areas of the town on frequent community picks. I act as the link to the council officers making sure collected litter and fly tipping are removed, alongside taking part in the picks (
