Participation on Outside Bodies and Partnerships

• I represent Hyde Longdendale District Assembly as the role of Chair/Vice Chair of the Werneth Low Country Park Joint Committee which I alternate with Margaret Eddowes, as I believe that the Park is fundamental to the people of Hyde.

• I am the Tameside representative on the Patrol Executive Board, National Appeal Body for Fixed Penalty Parking and Bus Lanes.

Participation of Schools

I am no longer a School Governor as it could be a conflict of interest with my position within the Council.

Constituency Work

I am always available to my constituents by phone or at my advice surgeries including roving surgeries and coffee morning session. I travel around my Newton Ward (Hyde) and Tameside. I log any problems on to our systems which I become aware of before they are reported to me in many cases.

Member Advice Surgeries

I attend home visits as and when requested from my constituents.

Training and Development

I have attended Member training sessions throughout the year and I have represented Tameside MBC at several conferences.

Achievements during the Year

• I have represented Tameside MBC at several conferences regarding Planning, Transport and Greater Manchester Housing.

• After the successful pilot of LED lighting this is now being rolled out across Tameside. This will be self-funding through savings and energy, furthermore reduce carbon emissions and night sky pollution.

• Network Rail has now completed the Mossley Road railway bridge ahead of schedule.

• Work has completed on the two pinch point construction sites on the Asda and BT roundabouts.

As a result of the working group there was an announcement in the Budget giving £75 million to look at feasibilities of possibly two Trans-Pennine tunnels, a road and rail tunnel.

• I am an active member of the East/West Joint Working Group, responding to the A57/A628 traffic issues.

• Developing my New Portfolio.

• We are working closely with the Greater Manchester Health Devolution team introducing the Integrated Care Organisation and we will continue working together, creating a single commissioning function from April 2016.
