Councillor Yvonne Cartey

Ward: St Michael's Ward

Annual Report of Activities 2015/16

Participation at Council Meetings and Panels

I have attended all Full Council meetings and am a regular attendee at Scrutiny Panels.

Participation at District Assemblies

I have attended all Ashton District Assembly meetings.

Participation on Outside Bodies and Partnerships

I regularly attend residents/homewatch meetings in rotation with my Ward Colleagues

Constituency Work

I am in contact with constituents on a regular basis, via e-mail, telephone and letter and callers to my home.

We also have regular newsletters in focused areas. This year we have concentrated on cleaning up the area, dealing with fly-tipping and constructing a register of all landlords in the area.

We are now looking to introduce more cctv cameras in the worst affected area (re rubbish dumping) and get more culprits recognised and fined.

We have applied for funding from the Police Commissioner’s scheme to purchase movable cctv cameras.

Members Advice Surgeries

We hold regular surgeries at Hurst Methodist Church, Curzon Road. As so many constituents seem to prefer to contact us in other ways we have relatively few attendees.

Training and Development

I have attended several of the Training sessions on a variety of topics put on by the Group.

Achievements during the Year

1. Getting dropped curbs on all major junctions on Whiteacre Road

2. Protecting the conservation area of Currier Lane by working with Railtrack and residents groups to ensure the new bridge is in keeping with the area.

3. More Parking schemes successfully introduced.

4. Working with the Friends of King Georges Playing Fields to improve the facilities in the park.

5. Supporting our Residents Associations and helping them improve their areas.

6. Working with Clean and Safe team to get unsightly bins put away between emptying and thus stopping fly-tipping.

7. Having traffic lights erected on Curzon Road/Whiteacre Road junction.

8. Having traffic lights erected on Clarence Street and Bayley Street junction.
