Conservation Day on Werneth Low
Hedge restoration which involves coppicing the hedge and planting in the gaps. No experience is required, just a willingness to join in and learn new skills. Please make sure you bring a packed lunch. Please wear strong footwear and waterproof clothes.
10am to 3pm at Lower Higham Visitor Centre, Higham Lane, Hyde. SK14 5LR

Hedgelaying encourages hedges to put on new growth to improve their overall structure and strength giving a greater weather protection to wildlife. No experience is required, just a willingness to join in and learn new skills. Please make sure you bring a packed lunch. Please wear strong footwear and waterproof clothes.

Moors and Mince Pies
Join Paul Nethercott on a very strenuous 9 mile walk in the countryside around Carrbrook, finishing with alfresco mince pies.
No dogs allowed as we will be going on open access land.

Bah Humbug.  On this three mile ramble around Werneth Low, an abridged version of “A Christmas Carol” will be performed,

New Year’s Day Walk
Start the New Year by resolving to enjoy this 10 mile ramble taking in some of the high spots of Tameside. Lunch stop at The Wharf Tavern, Stalybridge where meat and potato pie and veg. option will be available (£5.00)

A short stroll around Lower Higham and Werneth Low looking at what makes this place so special. A great family walk.

Ramble to Rowarth

Etherow Classic
Join John and Margaret Morrison on this ten mile walk to Compstall and back with hills, woods, rivers, lows and beautiful views.

Sunday 25 March            

Rome on the Low
Join Maximus Bamforth on his popular walk  Take a four mile stroll back through the ages to a time when Imperial Rome governed Werneth Low and Tameside with a hand of iron.

Easter Egg Hunt
An egg – stravaganza for younger children. As well as the hunt there will be competitions for best dressed Easter egg and bonnet.

Spring in your step
Explore the Tame Valley to see whether spring has sprung. Bluebells just flowering, vibrant green leaves and the first songbirds will all be there for your enjoyment on this six mile walk.

Sunday 29 April

Chadkirk Chapel Ramble
A 10 mile walk across wild, windswept Werneth Low to the historic delights of Chadkirk Chapel and back via Etherow Country Park.

Sunday 29 April

Spring Family Fun Day
Celebrate Spring with a family funday. Lots of mostly free entertainment; face painting, craft workshops, climbing wall, music, sports activities, stalls and street theatre amidst a carpet of spring flowers.
