Crime Prevention for Safer Communities

The Community Safety Unit has now successfully run three courses at The Village Hotel in Hyde funded by Lifelong Learning and aimed at raising the public's awareness of crime prevention measures and organisations that are working together to tackle the problem of crime and the fear of crime in Tameside.

As the courses have been extremely successful the Unit are looking into the possibility of extending the courses in the future but are also aiming at utilising the knowledge that the course completers have now gained with regards to Crime Prevention. It is hoped that by providing the course completers with the right tools and resources they can pass on that knowledge to members of their community but that they can also become more involved with the official organisations that make the decisions in their communities such as the Police and many others.
