Foster Care Expectations

Expectations of you

  • Foster carers will commit to Tameside’s Core training and further training opportunities.
  • Foster carers are expected to attend support groups.
  • Foster carers to be ‘pushy parents’ in advocating for the children in placement; treat children as they would treat their own.
  • Foster carers to safeguard and promote the best interests of children in placement.
  • Foster carers are part of a multi-agency team which ensures the child’s needs are met; active input into this is essential.
  • Be part of recruitment, help identify new carers and encourage those who you’d think make good carers.
  • Encourage exercise, healthy eating and good hygiene whilst working together as a team.
  • Prevent any bullying/discrimination aimed at the child in placement in school.
