Yellow New Housing Development Signs
How to Apply to Put Up a Yellow New Housing Sign
Housing Developers or Signage Agencies must submit an application at least 3 months before any signage is installed. This allows the council enough time to assess locations, approve proposals, and arrange post installations where required.
Application Requirements
When applying, you must include:
1. Detailed Location Map
Your map must show:
- The exact proposed locations of each sign
- Which side of the road each sign will be placed on
- What will be displayed on each sign
A maximum of 10 signs within a two‑mile radius of the housing development is allowed.
Installation Rules
- Signs cannot be installed on street lighting columns.
- Signs must be placed on a post installed in the footway or, in some cases, another approved highway asset.
- The Engineers Department will assess and approve whether each proposed site is suitable.
Permit Duration
- A permit is valid for 12 months.
- After 12 months, if the signage is still required, you may apply for a renewal (another 12-month period).
Renewal fees are the same as the original application fees.
Costs
Application Fees
- £93.00 administration fee per application
- £36.00 permit fee per sign, valid for 12 months
These fees apply both to new applications and renewals.
Post Installation Costs
If posts are installed by TMBC:
- £429.43 per post (per sign)
Non‑Compliance Charges
Any application not meeting the terms and conditions will incur:
- £84.00 charge per sign
This covers additional administration and/or removal costs.
