Covid-19 Click and Collect

As part of our limited reopening, from 6th July 2020 we now operate a Click and Collect system. Ashton, Droylsden, Dukinfield and Stalybridge Libraries are offering to put together a collection of up to 6 books based on your preferences for you to collect.

How it works

Give us a call on 0161 342 2043 or web chat us, or email to let us know what you like to read and we’ll put together the selection for you to collect from whichever of the four reopening libraries you prefer. Alternatively, you can complete the Click and Collect form via the Online Catalogue by logging in with your Library Card number and PIN. Your PIN is usually the DDYY of your date of birth so someone born on 7 January 1990 would have the PIN 0790.

A member of staff will be in contact to tell you when you can collect your books. Please bring your library card with you when you come to collect them. If someone else will be collecting the books on your behalf please let us know when you submit your order.

Social Distancing

In order to maintain social distancing and Health and Safety procedures you may be required to queue to collect your books, but if you are just coming in for Click and Collect then you won't need to wait long.

It may sometimes be possible to collect books outside the library building, speak to the member of staff on duty.
Books will appear on your account a few days prior to collection in order for them to be quarantined for the required length of time (this extra time will not count towards your loan period).

Until libraries are able to open fully fines have been suspended. When this changes you will be given notice to allow you time to return your books.

Returns of Existing Loans

Books can be returned to any branch operating the Click and Collect service during its opening hours. You may be required to queue although some libraries may have a place to drop off returns. Speak to the member of staff on duty.

All items that were due back during the lockdown period had been renewed until the end of June to ensure that no fines are attracted when people are unable to return them. All such items have now beeen extended to the first date a branch is open after 31 August 2020 to allow sufficient time for people to return their items following the re-opening of libraries.

If you think that your items were overdue before the libraries were closed, there will still be an overdue charge. Please contact us on 0161 342 2031 or email so that we can help.
