Re-Sisters in Peace: The Life of a Tameside Activist
Wednesday 13 March 10.30 – 11.30am
Rob Wild pays tribute to his wife, Janet Wild, Tameside activist and campaigner who as a member of Re-sisters In Peace demonstrated tirelessly for world peace and campaigned for nuclear disarmament during the 80s and 90s around Tameside and Manchester. As the founder of the Stalybridge Photographic Club, Rob draws on his extensive collection of photographs, and subsequent research undertaken at Tameside Local Studies and Manchester Central Archives, to give a highly illustrated and deeply personal account of Janet’s life and work, and the movement she felt so passionately about.

Book Time for Yourself Clubs
Tameside's free, friendly and relaxing weekly book clubs
What are Book Time for Yourself clubs?
The clubs offer a new type of reading experience. They are small and friendly, and meet at various locations across Tameside once a week for an hour and a half.
How do they work?
Participants read short stories, poems and books aloud to the group. Members can simply sit back and listen, or join in discussions about what they have just heard.
Unlike standard readers' groups members do not need to read the book or short story before coming to a session making them pressure free.
Who is it for?
Book Time for Yourself clubs are open to any adults who are looking for the time and space to relax.
What sort of things do you read?
A mixture of novels, short stories and poems.
Where do the clubs meet?
Please note some groups meet during Open+ hours. To attend you will need to be registered for Open+ access. For full details please visit Open+ or contact the library during staffed hours.
