Computer Buddies
Announcement: Tameside Library Service during Tier 4 restrictions in force from 31 December 2020.
From Monday 4 January 2021 Tameside Library buildings will not be open for general use and browsing – however you will be able to return items or collect pre-ordered books at the Library entrance. In addition all online services and the Home Library Service will continue. There will also be strictly managed access to public PCs in library buildings to assist with essential activity such as job applications, benefit claims and digital access to other public services.
We have a range of online services and digital events on offer but due to Covid-19 guidelines there are currently no events or activities taking place in libraries. For full details of revised current services and facilities, please see our Libraries homepage and social media.

What are Computer Buddies?
Computer Buddies are volunteers who are skilled at helping people with little or no experience of computers.
What can Computer Buddies help me with?
- How to use a mouse and keyboard
- How to open an e-mail account
- Switching on and starting a programme
- How to send and receive e-mails
- How to search and find your way around the Internet – other topics may be available, please ask.
Which libraries are holding the buddy sessions?
How long do sessions last?
- Sessions can last up to 60 minutes and can be booked in advance.
How do I book a session?
- Booking is easy, simply telephone the library that suits you and ask the staff to book you a 60 minute session.
- If there is something in particular you want to know, simply let the staff know what you are interested in learning and the library staff will let your buddy know.
