Ready Steady Read Competition

Children who have attended one of the Ready Steady Read half term activities listed below, or one of the author events organised for schools are eligible to enter this year's Ready Steady Read competition. Complete the entry form and return to any Tameside Library by Saturday 11 March to be in with the chance of winning a reading goody bag.

Join comics artist Marc Jackson and learn to draw your own cartoon characters! 
Marc Jackson is a UK based cartoonist. He has created comics and characters for BEANO, Aces Weekly, Comic heroes magazine, Comicscene, The Brooklyn Red Hook Star revue, Moose Kid comics, Hey kids comics, Spiralbound/Medium, and Freaky mag.
He regularly self-publishes comics this year launching his fan-comic ‘MR T and the fools of the future’ and regularly publishes web-comics on ko-fi.com. Last year Marc and his wife Jane opened Room for comics, a comics and cartoon art studio in their hometown of Macclesfield in Cheshire, dedicated to teaching and promoting all things comics and cartooning. He also visits schools, libraries and festivals around the country (and sometimes the world) and organises a comic art festival in Macclesfield MACC-POW!

Jim Medway

Join Jim Medway for Creating Comics, all the basics to drawing your own comic strips and stories, including character design, expression, speech and thought, and black & white contrast. through a variety of drawing games and activities.
Jim Medway is an artist and writer whose work mostly features distinctive cat characters. He publishes his own work under the label Paw Quality Comics and was a regular contributor to The DFC, drawing and writing "Funniest Land Mammal!", "New at the Zoo" and "Crab Lane Crew".
