Silly Squad

The Reading Agency and Tameside Libraries are excited to introduce Silly Squad Summer Reading Challenge 2020; a celebration of funny books, happiness and laughter.

The Silly Squad is a team of animal friends who love to go on adventures and get stuck in to all different kinds of funny books. It’s fun, friendly and absolutely free!  The challenge launches on Saturday 20 June and runs until September, so there is plenty of time to get on with that reading!

What Do I Do?

You can now register for the Silly Squad Summer Reading Challenge at 4 of Tameside Libraries: Ashton, Droylsden, Dukinfield and Stalybridge.  When you register you will get a Silly Squad starter pack:

  • A fold out Silly Squad poster
  • 3 Silly Squad smelly stickers
  • A bookmark
Borrow 6 library books in one go, take them home and read them. If you have books at home that you would like to read towards your 6 book target, brilliant, they count too.

You can also borrow some ebooks with your library card

Return your books and get your lovely shiny Silly Squad medal and fridge magnet.  If you will be at a Tameside Libraries primary school in September, we will send a certificate there at the end of September!

If you aren’t a member yet it’s free to join the library online.

If you are not able to get to the Library in person, then you can sign up to a digital challenge. To do this, go to Remember to ask a grown up, they will need to give permission for you to join.

Not sure what to borrow? Have a look at our Silly Squad reading list for ideas.
