Free Activities in Tameside Libraries this summer

Children can join the Summer Reading Challenge in all Tameside libraries this summer and take part in free activities!

We’ve got Mischief Makers library activities to help you to complete the Mischief Makers Challenge, extra fun with our Where the Wild Things Are sessions, exciting comics with Big Beano Bonanzas, chilled out stories at Family Yoga, finding out about looking after our pets with the PDSA and things to learn with our Explore Learning sessions too! Don’t forget our regular Time for a Rhyme sessions are still running every week as well.

Mischief Makers library activitiesImage

Fun, free, friendly activities in all Tameside Libraries for children taking part in Mischief Makers including treasure hunts, crafts and games.  Activities are aimed at children aged 4-11 and their parents and carers, there’s no need to book, just come along on the day.

Where the Wild Things Are


ImageJoin Simon the storyteller and set sail on this adventure into the world of the Wild Things! There’ll be art, songs, music, drama and games to help tell the story! Suitable for children aged 0-10 and their parents and carers, these are free, drop in sessions.

Big Poetry Beano Bonanza


A fun, interactive and funny poetry show for all the family with Craig Bradley.

Family Yoga with Sara Lucarelli


Places are limited - must be booked in advance.

Yoga and mindfulness are great for children and families, as they offer a chance for imaginative discovery of self, collaboration with peers and family members, as well as non-competitive movement, dance, fun and laughter. Workshops are open to everyone – children, teens, mums, dads, grandparents and carers. You do not need to be super fit, just arrive with a willing spirit!

Looking After Your Pets with Kylie Jones from PDSA

A Knight's Journey to the King’s Throne
Free Explore Learning workshop aimed at children aged 7-10 focusing on building vocabulary, sentence structure and adding detail to descriptions in writing. Places are limited and must be booked in advance.
