Free Activities in Tameside Libraries this summer!

Children can join the Summer Reading Challenge in all Tameside libraries this summer and take part in all our FREE activities!

We’ve got virtual Wild World Heroes Book Fun events to help you to complete the Wild World Heroes Challenge, Meet the Author events and exciting Storyhunts with John Kirk! Check out the Library Activities for things you can do when you’ve been in to the library and the Online Resources links to other activities you can download at home and well as links to some free sessions run by Explore Learning.

Don’t forget our regular Time for a Rhyme sessions are still running every week as well!

Join storyteller John Kirk on an online story hunt. Pick up a Treasure Hunt

Visit any Tameside Library to pick up a different weekly treasure hunt to do in the outdoors! Bring back what you’ve found for a sticker.

  • Week 1 Treasure Hunt - Colours in the Wild

    Ask staff in any of the libraries for materials or use your own at home to do this treasure hunt looking for lots of wild colours!

Create a library wildlife garden

Create something at home to add to our wildlife garden. There’s a different theme each week, check here for the latest instructions or ask in the library. Make your craft at home then bring in to add to the library display.

Photo Competition

A different photo challenge posted each week will be posted on Facebook and Twitter. Send your photo to information.direct@tameside.gov.uk and each photo that meets the criteria will be entered into a prize draw at the end of the week to win a book.



Nature Discovery Challenge - as part of our TechKnow Festival

Try the Seek app and take your nature knowledge up a notch! www.inaturalist.org/pages/seek_app
Download the Seek app and get started using it to identify different plants and animals you see. When you’ve found 15 different species, you’ll get the tracker badge!
Send a screenshot of the badge to information.direct@tameside.gov.uk along with name and age of child by Saturday 28 August to be entered into a prize draw for the chance to win a book!
