Harold was born and lived in Dukinfield, Cheshire.

Service Life

Lance Sergeant Harold Loynds (12403) enlisted in Manchester and served in 13 Platoon, ‘D’ Company, 19th Battalion the Manchester Regiment as well as the 16th Battalion. For his service in the army, which included going overseas to France in November 1915, Harold was awarded the Allied Victory Medal, British War Medal and 1914-1915 Star.
                                     
We Shall Remember Him

Harold was killed in action on 31 July 1917. He is commemorated on the Ypres (Menin Gate) Memorial, Belgium (Grave/Memorial Reference – Panel 53 and 55). His Next of Kin Memorial Plaque is on display in the Museum of the Manchester Regiment in the Forshaw Galley.
