Norman Cyril John Harrison

Early Life

Norman Cyril john HarrisonNorman was born in Coutesthorpe, Leicestershire. He was the son of William and Sarah Jane Harrison of Cottage Homes, Coutesthorpe, Leicester.

Service Life

Private Norman Harrison (41591) enlisted in Leicester and served with ‘A’ Company of the 18th Battalion of the Manchester Regiment. He had previously served with the Lancashire Fusiliers (26028). For his service in the army Norman earned the British War Medal and Allied Victory Medal. His medals can be seen in the Museum of the Manchester Regiment

We Shall Remember Him

Norman died of wounds on 13 June 1917, aged 20. He is buried in the Hop Store Cemetery, Belgium (Grave/Memorial Reference – Plot I. Row B. Grave 43). His Next of Kin Memorial Plaque is on display in the Museum of the Manchester Regiment in the Ladysmith Gallery memorial cabinet drawer 4.
