Private James William Smith (21495) enlisted in Manchester and served with the 22nd Battalion of the Manchester Regiment. For his service in the army, James was awarded the Allied Victory Medal and British War Medal.

We Shall Remember Him
James died on 6 June 1916. He is buried in Bronfay Farm Military Cemetery, Bray-Sur-Somme, France (Grave/Memorial Reference – I.D.10). His Next of Kin Memorial Plaque is on display in the Museum of the Manchester Regiment in the Forshaw Gallery.
