Ernest Storer

 Early Life

Ernest was born and lived in Droylsden, Lancashire.

Service Life

Private Ernest Storer (9167) enlisted in Manchester and served in 9 Platoon, ‘C’ Company, 17th Battalion the Manchester Regiment. For his service in the army, which included going overseas to France in November 1915, Ernest was awarded the Allied Victory Medal, British War Medal and 1914-15 Star. Ernest’s medals can be seen in the Museum of the Manchester Regiment.

We Shall Remember Him

Ernest was killed in action on Ernest was killed in action on 10 July 1916. He is commemorated on the Thiepval Memorial, France (Grave/Memorial Reference – Pier and Face 12A and 14C). His Next of Kin Memorial Plaque is on display in the Museum of the Manchester Regiment in the Forshaw Gallery.
