Owen Taylor

Early Life

Owen TaylorOwen was born in 1888 in Golborne, Lancashire and lived in Moston, Manchester. He was the son of Robert and Hannah Maria Taylor, of 42 Princess Street, Moston, Manchester. Owen had four sisters and one brother and worked as a grocer before enlisting.

Service Life

Private Owen Taylor (32608) enlisted in Ashton-under-Lyne into the 16th Battalion of the Manchester Regiment. For his service in the Army Owen earned the British War Medal and Allied Victory Medal. 

We Shall Remember Him

Owen was killed in action on 20 June 1917, aged 29. William is remembered on the Durham Cemetery Memorial 68, Perth Cemetery (China Wall), Belgium. His Next of Kin Memorial Plaque is on display in the Museum of the Manchester Regiment in the Ladysmith Gallery memorial cabinet drawer 6.
