You Said We Did Tameside Health and Wellbeing Strategy and Locality Plan
Tameside residents were asked to give their views on the health and wellbeing priorities for the borough as set out in the draft Health and Wellbeing Strategy and Locality Plan. Developed by the Health and Wellbeing Board – a partnership of organisation including Tameside Council, NHS partners, and voluntary, community, and social enterprise organisations – the draft strategy provided ambitions across the life course to improve the health of Tameside residents and reduce inequalities that many residents in Tameside experience.
- Included a specific priority around improving oral health including the issue of improving access to dental health care
- Included an additional priority to improve the proportion of people dying in the place they choose and appropriate holistic support for palliative and end of life care
- Amended some of the priorities to place more emphasis on better enabling of physical activity
- More emphasis throughout the strategy on the importance of prevention including awareness raising and education
- Amended priorities around skills development to ensure there is a focus on providing relevant skills for the future for Tameside residents, which will be taken in to the ongoing work of the Inclusive Growth Board
- Have added in stronger focus on the challenge of financial resources and the fact that the improvements needed around health and wellbeing need adequate investment, particularly in preventative services
- Clearer objectives added around the need to ensure inclusivity, co-production and listening to people in the community are part of everything we do when developing services and making decisions
- Efforts were made in the final design of the strategy to improve the contrast of the text and images to make this more accessible for people with visual impairments
