What would you like support with?
We argue a lot and cannot resolve things.
Repeated arguments can create a cycle that is hard to change without support. Tameside’s parental relationship offer may help you understand what happens and practice calmer ways to communicate. If arguments involve fear, threats or control, use the domestic abuse support route instead.
We are drifting apart.
Feeling disconnected is common during periods of pressure or change. Relationship support may help you talk about what has changed and what each of you needs, provided both people feel safe and freely able to take part.
We are separating or thinking about separating.
Early information and support can help adults make child-focused decisions and reduce unnecessary conflict. You can access separated parent support here in Tameside. You do not have to agree about the future before seeking individual information. If you are frightened or controlled, seek domestic abuse advice before mediation or joint work.
We live apart and need help with co-parenting.
Co-parenting support can help with communication, routines, handovers and keeping children out of adult disagreements. It is not appropriate to expect cooperative joint work where one person is frightened, controlled or unsafe.
Parenting causes arguments between us.
Different parenting views are common. Support may help you identify shared priorities for your child and agree how to manage differences without undermining each other.
Money is causing stress.
Financial pressure can affect communication and family life. Practical money advice and relationship support may both help. If money is being used to control your choices or access to essentials, contact a domestic abuse service.
Communication has broken down.
When communication becomes hostile, avoidant or limited to repeated disputes, structured professional support may help. If direct communication feels unsafe, seek individual specialist advice rather than being encouraged into joint conversations.
I am not sure what support I need.
You do not need to diagnose the problem or choose the perfect service. [Tameside access point/service] can listen to what is happening and help you identify an appropriate next step. If you feel frightened or controlled, contact domestic abuse specialist support.
