Flytipping Enforcement
Our Service Charter for this area is as follows:
Fly tipping and the illegal dumping of waste are issues that are taken very seriously by Tameside MBC. In an attempt to clamp down on this unacceptable behaviour and to ensure an efficient response to complaints regarding dumped waste the Council have formed a dedicated Fly Tipping Enforcement Unit. This unit will work with other service areas to ensure a high standard of service is provided to both the businesses and residents of Tameside.
In order to do this we will:
- respond to all complaints relating to fly tipping within 5 working days
- respond to priority requests / complaints immediately, (this would include hazardous waste, major incidents or those which provide an opportunity to gather evidence to support criminal action)
- ensure a co-ordinated approach to complaints and liaise with other Council service areas
- work closely with the 'out of hours' service to ensure a 24 hour response where this is required
- pursue legal action where this is considered appropriate having regard to our enforcement policy
- keep you informed of progress where investigations are ongoing
You can help us by:
- co-operating with any request for information by an investigating officer
- wherever possible reporting incidents to our call centre as below
- providing us with timely and accurate information concerning incidents by identifying the offenders or by taking registration numbers of vehicles involved
