Family Fund

Location: National 

Family Fund supports families living across the UK who are who are raising a disabled or seriously ill child or young person up to the age of 17. Our support is focused on those on low incomes with a child/children who have a high level of additional support needs.
At Family Fund, we believe that all families raising disabled or seriously ill children and young people should have the same choices, quality of life, opportunities and aspirations as other families.
We support this by providing grants for a range of essential items. Families can apply for kitchen appliances such as fridges, freezers and cookers, as well as clothing, bedding, games, books and music, laptops and tablets, family breaks, sensory toys and more.
 
Who can apply?
We use our own Child and Young Person’s Eligibility Criteria to assess a disabled or seriously ill child or young person’s additional support needs based on the social model of disability.

Children and young people do not need a diagnosis to meet our criteria.
 
How can I apply?
If you’re thinking of apply to Family Fund, you can do so in a number of ways. You can register to apply online, you can download an application pack to print off at home, or you can order a free application pack to be sent out to you.

Welfare Rights Service

Location: Ashton-Under-Lyne 

This service provides free confidential advice and representation on all matters regarding benefits.

The benefits that we can help you with include:

We provide Help and Assistance with debts:

  • Maximizing income (including claims for welfare benefits and tax credits)
  • Prepare a financial statement with all income and expenditure
  • Deal with emergencies such as bailiff or court action
  • Challenge liability for debts
  • Act as a gateway to the government's mortgage rescues scheme
  • Deal with debts in the magistrate's court such as fines and council tax debt
  • Offers representation in relation to debts in the county court such as mortgage Possession, rent evictions and enforcement of county court judgements

 
How the advisor can help:

  • Give you 'one-off' initial advice.
  • If they are unable to help, they may need to refer you to another agency or supplier (they will tell you if this agency is free or if there is a charge).
  • They may take on your case and make an appointment – this will be discussed in the meeting.

 
Bring with you:

  • Proof of all income you receive.
  • A list of your income and expenditure.
  • All documents relating to your debts – (put them in date order with the most recent at the top).

Blue Badge Scheme

Ring and Ride mini bus service for those who find it difficult to use ordinary public transport.

Children Today Charitable Trust

Our service provides grants for equipment to give disabled children greater independence and the chance to take part in the same sort of activities as others for example:-

Rosscare

Location: Dukinfield 

Rosscare is the repair contractor for the Wheelchair Service. They repair any faults that occur and service the wheelchair once a year. They also store, collect and deliver various other pieces of other specialist equipment such as standing frames, bathing aids and chairs.

Cost: No cost if the wheelchair has been supplied by the Wheelchair Centre

Whizz Kidz

Location: London 

Whizz-Kidz provides customised mobility equipment - such as powered wheelchairs, sports and lightweight wheelchairs, trikes and bikes - to disabled children across the UK. We also offer wheelchair training and impartial advice and guidance to young people and their families.
