MiNTed Tameside

MiNTed is a free money information service, helping social housing tenants in Tameside to make their money go further, cut the cost of bills, and make informed decisions around money. We help people break the cycle of debt through looking at prioritising payments, accessing relevant services, and developing budgeting skills. We offer information and support around money related issues, helping people to feel more confident in making financial decisions and making their money go further. We offer support on a 1:1 basis and also run a variety of fun and interactive workshops. We provide information around saving money on household bills including making sure you're not paying too much for utilities. We provide information and guidance around banking and saving, credit and loans, benefits and savvy shopping. We help people to break the cycle of debt through looking at prioritising payments, accessing relevant services, and developing budgeting skills. Every participant's journey with MiNTed is individual to them. They can access as much or as little information as they require.

The Money Advice Service

People face hard choices with money throughout their lives – at moments of crisis such as a divorce, or when they choose products such as a pension or car finance. Confronted with these events, most of us could make smarter decisions, given the right support. Yet 24 million people in the UK do not feel in control of their finances, and 8 million risk not being able to service their debts. We do the things that, if we don’t do them, nobody else will. Government has set MAS up, and funded us with a levy on financial services, to offer unique and essential help with money - whether that’s best delivered directly by us, or through others. We are in a fortunate and unique position, because we never sell anything to anyone. So we offer a comprehensive website with fast, free, independent help on everything from pensions to pet insurance. We offer a call centre with highly trained staff who can tell people where to get the right help at the right time on any financial topic.

We use evidence to understand who across the UK most needs help. We find out what works. We deliver this through partners where we can, or directly if not, to improve the ability of people to manage their money.

  • Use our Grant Search to find out if you may be eligible for financial help or support from a charitable fund. We’ve around 2,800 of these funds listed on our database and the tool will make it easy to find the right one for you

  • Make it personal to you by registering for a ‘My Turn2us’ account which allows you to make confidential enquiries and applications directly to grant–giving charities.

Charitable grants

Use our Grants Search, which will allow you to look through 3,000 charitable funds across the country, to find out if you might be eligible for support. We also give direct help through a range of funds administered directly by the charity including the Elizabeth Finn Fund, and the Turn2us Response Fund.

If you are an intermediary – one of the thousands of advisers, welfare officers, support workers and volunteer home visitors who have regular face-to-face contact with people in financial need – we can help you find the right resources to support the people you are working with. You can also store individuals’ details and applications in your confidential and secure Turn2us intermediary account, enabling you to access and update information as you need to. We also work in partnership with many organisations to develop projects and services involving intermediaries.

Debt Support Trust is a registered charity (SC041902) providing debt advice and support for people struggling to manage their debts. We understand being in debt can be a difficult experience so our trained volunteers and qualified debt advisors are on hand to give you tailored and caring debt advice.

CAP Christians Against Poverty

We exist because nobody should be held hostage by debt and poverty. But the truth is that they are rife in the UK. In a society where people live behind closed doors, thousands are desperately poor. Unable to feed their children, incapable of paying to heat their homes in winter, the grip of poverty is relentless. It breaks families apart and drives many to think that suicide is the only solution.

We are passionate about releasing people in our nation from a life sentence of debt, poverty and their causes. Through our services, which are all run through local churches, we are tackling poverty head on. GamCare's employees are dedicated and experienced professionals, helping problem gamblers as well as their friends and families. The majority of our employees work directly with problem gamblers, providing advice over the phone and online or through face-to-face counselling. LEAP - Local Energy Advice Programme

LEAP (Local Energy Advice Programme) is a new free energy and money saving advice service. LEAP can help you to save money and to keep your home warm and cosy.

LEAP offers a free of charge in-home advice visit. Our friendly Home Energy Advisors can:
