Securing Sufficient Childcare in Tameside
Introduction
Under the Childcare Act 2006, Local Authorities are required so far as is reasonably practicable to secure sufficient childcare places for, working parents, or parents who are studying or training for employment, for children aged 0-14 or up to 18 for disabled children.
Childcare Sufficiency Assessment
In order to meet this duty, local authorities should consider a number of factors including:
- the state of the local childcare market including wraparound provision and the childcare workforce
- childcare supply and demand
- Quality and capacity of childcare providers
The council report annually on how they are meeting their duty to secure sufficient childcare:
- Childcare Sufficiency Assessment - Annual Report 2024
- Childcare Sufficiency Assessment - Annual Report 2023
- Childcare Sufficiency Assessment - Annual Report 2022
- Childcare Sufficiency Assessment - Annual Report 2021
