Druids of Droylsden

D.O.D and the Big Boggart Book

Join D.O.D (AKA: The Druids of Droylsden) at Droylsden Library as they make their final preparations for the spookiest night in October… All Hallows Eve.

Every year this highly secretive ancient order gathers its members to read from the Big Boggart Book, a vast encyclopaedia detailing all the creepy creatures, frightful faeries, ghastly ghosts, and beastly bogies that go bump in the night throughout Droylsden and beyond. Reading this book is an essential task for if the boggart ceremonies and rituals have not been completed by the stroke of midnight on Halloween then the boggarts will rise up and all manner of mischief will occur!

This year the task of reading the big boggart book has fallen to the druids apprentices… Unfortunately they are the most hapless, utterly hopeless bunch of apprentices you’ll ever meet. AND to top it all off they’ve already lost 8 pages of the big boggart book!

Come meet the druids at Droylsden library on Saturday 23rd October (11am-2pm) and help them search for the missing pages by taking a trip around the town centre on an interactive treasure hunt featuring artwork produced by children from Manchester Road and Greenside Primary Schools. The treasure hunt will run from 23rd October for the October half term holidays and can be collected from Droylsden Library during opening hours. If you can solve the clues and find all the pages, we all just might make it through Halloween!

The druids will also be at the library on Thursday 28th (10.00am-12.00pm) and Friday 29th October (2.00-4.00pm) with an interactive performance, where you can read through the big boggart book and practice the rituals to ward off those pesky boggarts! You might even have time to create your very own boggart!

These events are FREE. You will need to book your place via Eventbrite for the 28 and 29 October to guarantee participation and help us maintain some COVID safety measures. Places are limited so please do book to avoid disappointment.
