Physical Activity: LGBTQ Questionnaire

The physical and mental benefits of participating in physical activity, daily movement and sport are very well documented, and the number of people who regularly take part in sport is rising. However, the UK is still faced with a number of pressing health related challenges.  One of the main concerns is a lack of physical activity and the health issues that result.

We know that some communities are underrepresented in physical activity, with some pockets of the LGBT community being less active than the wider population, but we need to understand more about the picture in Tameside.  Evidence relating to the activity levels of groups according to gender (but not gender identity), age, ethnicity, socio-economic status and disability is readily available, but the sports participation and physical activity levels of the Lesbian Gay Bisexual and Transgender (LGBT) community is less well established.

We would like to understand more about our LGBT communities, to capture baseline data relating to participation in activity and to examine attitudes to physical activity, daily movement, and sport, with a view to shaping staff education programmes, producing club resources about inclusion, shaping transgender policies and potentially running localised LGBT participation programmes.

Please take a moment to complete this survey which will help us establish the current landscape.

The survey will close on 15th March 2019.
