Tameside Employment Fund (TEF) Business Grant

A £1500 grant is available to a Tameside business (subject to the terms and conditions).  There are two business grant schemes available from 28th May 2019 with the aims of:
  • Supporting businesses to recruit individuals aged 16-24 into employment through an apprenticeship programme that they would not otherwise be in a position to offer.
  • Providing an incentive for an employer to help support the local jobs market and local economy 

These schemes are:
1) The Tameside Business Grant
2) The Greater Manchester 'SME Apprentice Support Package' Grant for Employers (GM SME)

Each business can apply for a maximum of 2 grants between 28th May 2019 to 31st March 2021 and receive a maximum of £3000 in business grant funds.

To be eligible for the scheme, you must meet the following criteria:
 
Tameside Business Grant The GM SME Apprentice Support Package Grant for Employers
Create an apprenticeship as an accredited scheme which may support reduction of unemployment and NEETs (Not in Employment, Education or Training).  The employer has not previously employed an apprentice or where the employer has previously employed an apprentice, it has been more than 2 years since their last apprentice completed their programme.
The apprentice must be a new recruit adding to the head count of the business GM SME will only be granted where at least one new apprenticeship opportunity has been created
The apprentice will be a Tameside resident The apprentice will be a Tameside resident
The business is located in Tameside The business is located in Tameside
The apprentice will be aged 16-24 The apprentice will be aged 16-24
The employer is a non-levy paying organisation with less than 250 employees, in the United Kingdom, as recorded by the Employer Data Service (EDS). The employer is a non-levy paying organisation with less than 250 employees, in the United Kingdom, as recorded by the Employer Data Service (EDS).
The employer will pay the apprentice a minimum of the apprenticeship salary in accordance with government pay conditions. The employer will pay the apprentice a minimum of the apprenticeship salary in accordance with government pay conditions.
The apprentice must be enrolled on an apprenticeship framework/standard through a training provider recognised by the Education and Skills Funding Agency. GM SME is only available to non-levy paying organisations employing apprentices on approved apprenticeship standards, in a Tameside workplace.
To commit to employ your apprentice(s) for a minimum of 12 months on the apprenticeship programme or the time it takes them to complete their apprenticeship.
