How we support children and young people

Our support is tailored depending on the group of children and young people we are working with.

How we support children and young people
For children in care, we:

  • Monitor attendance, attainment and progress
  • Ensure every child has a high-quality Personal Education Plan (PEP)
  • Promote high aspirations and celebrate success
  • Identify and address barriers to learning
  • Support transitions between schools and key stages

For previously looked after children and children with a social worker, we provide advice and guidance to help improve educational outcomes.

Support for schools and settings
We provide:

  • Guidance on meeting the needs of vulnerable learners
  • Advice on effective use of additional funding
  • Support to identify and remove barriers to learning
  • Training and professional development opportunities
  • Support in developing high-quality education plans

Support for Social Workers, Professionals and Partners
We offer:

  • Advice on education as part of care and support planning
  • Guidance on education systems and expectations
  • Contribution to multi-agency planning
  • Support to ensure education is prioritised

Support for Parents and Carers
We provide:

  • Advice on how to support learning at home
  • Help to understand education systems and processes
  • Guidance on accessing support
  • Opportunities to contribute to education planning

For previously looked after children, support is offered through advice and information rather than direct casework.
