Personal Education Plans (PEPs)

A Personal Education Plan (PEP) is a statutory document and a key part of a child’s care plan.
Every child in care must have a current, high-quality PEP.
The PEP:

  • Identifies strengths, needs and barriers to learning
  • Sets clear and measurable targets
  • Brings together key adults supporting the child
  • Is reviewed regularly to ensure progress

Pupil Premium Plus (PP+)
Pupil Premium Plus (PP+) is additional funding to improve the educational outcomes of children in care.

  • The Virtual School is responsible for the allocation and use of this funding, working with schools to ensure it has the greatest impact
  • Funding must be used for evidence-based approaches
  • Spending should be clearly linked to the child’s educational needs and outcomes
  • Impact must be measurable and reviewed

Examples of how PP+ may be used:

  • Targeted academic support or tutoring
  • Specialist resources to support learning
  • Enrichment opportunities that enhance educational development
