RESIDENTS, stakeholders and businesses across Tameside are being invited to share their views on the Climate and Environment Strategy, to ensure it delivers benefits for communities.

Tameside Council has refreshed the strategy for 2026 to 2031, using feedback gathered through previous engagement activities, including the Climate Action Event and an initial public survey.

While the strategy outlines the borough's proposed approach to climate and environmental action in Tameside over the next five years, the consultation aims to understand how it can deliver benefits and improvements for residents and communities across the borough. This focus will help to shape its final priorities and actions.

An online consultation is open for contributions and running until 4 January 2027.

The strategy covers six main areas: homes, non-domestic buildings and workplaces, influencing others, natural environment, sustainability and consumption, and travel and transport.

Council teams will also be engaging with local businesses and community groups, ensuring organisations from across the borough can contribute their views and help shape the strategy, as well as public sessions across Tameside.

In-person drop-ins will be available to residents and stakeholders across Tameside from October to December, with dates and locations to follow.

Tameside Councils Executive Member for Environmental Services and Neighbourhoods, Councillor Laura Boyle said: “We are encouraging everyone who lives or works in Tameside to share their views to help ensure the strategy is a true reflection of the needs and priorities of local people.  The strategy will guide our climate approach over the next five years, so your feedback is important in helping us understand what matters most to residents, businesses and communities.

“By completing the survey, you can help shape the actions and priorities that will influence how we respond to climate challenges across Tameside, so please share your views!”
