We Did
We: Have undertaken a Housing Needs Assessment in Tameside.
Are currently developing a Housing Strategy for 2026-2031.
Are working with Housing Developers to increase the amount of affordable housing being built in the borough.
We: Have completed a Homelessness Service review.
Have produced a new draft service structure
Are directing resources to the areas which have the biggest impact. For example: primary prevention and early intervention
We have rolled out AdviceAid across Tameside borough to provide advice and signpost vulnerable residents to the support they need.
We have re-established a Homelessness Forum in Tameside. This brings a wide range of organisation in the Voluntary, Community, Faith and Social Enterprise (VCFSC) Sector together to work collaboratively to combat Homelessness. This forum meets every quarter and will be engaged in working on specific items in the Homelessness and Rough Sleeping delivery plan.
We are building capacity and capability for the VCFSE sector organisations to work differently and fully participate in combatting Homelessness.
We are supporting clients who have financial issues. We have staff from the Welfare Advice Service working in our service to support clients to access the benefits to which they are entitled.
We also have specialist staff in the Housing Options Team for a range of areas: for example, discharge from hospital, Domestic Abuse and are proposing a member of staff to be co-located in Tameside’s Multi-Agency Safeguarding Hub (MASH).
