Adults Safeguarding Partnership Board

In response to the Care Act, each local authority has a Safeguarding Adults Board (SAB). In Tameside this is the Tameside Adults Safeguarding Partnership Board (TASPB).

The main objective of the board is to assure itself that local safeguarding arrangements and partners act to help and protect adults in its area from abuse who meet the criteria as defined:
The Safeguarding duties apply to an adult who is over 18.
  • has needs for care and support (whether or not the local authority is meeting any of those needs and.
  • is experiencing or at risk of abuse or neglect and.
  • As a result of those care and support needs is unable to protect themselves from either the risk or the experience of the abuse or neglect.

Tameside Adult Safeguarding Partnership Board (TASPB) recognise that the abuse of adults is a reality. TASPB do not believe it is acceptable and are committed to partnership working to prevent and stop both the risks and experience of abuse or neglect. TASPB will ensure that the safeguarding arrangements both promote the adults well-being and that staff in their organisations work with the adult to establish what being safe means to them and how best this can be achieved. As organisations we will ensure that our staff are trained to be alert in detecting signs or symptoms of adult abuse.
