Market Position Statement and Fair Cost of Care

Market Position Statement 2023-2026

Our Market Position Statement sets out our vision for care and support services in Tameside. The document is aimed at existing and potential providers of Adult Social Care and support, setting out our intentions as a strategic commissioner of services.

The Market Position Statement aims to create an understanding of the local care market covering the need and demand for care, and commissioning intentions to enable the effective design and delivery of services for people that need care and support now and in the future.

We recognise the importance of listening to not only the people who receive care but those who provide care too. To raise any points for discussion, further enquiries or to express an interest in co-production please email commissioningteam@tameside.gov.uk

Fair Cost of Care

The Government has implemented wide-ranging and ambitious reforms of adult social care with the white paper ‘People at the Heart of Care’ published in December 2021. One of the first steps of this 10-year vision was the implementation of the Market Sustainability and Fair Cost of Care Fund.

As a condition of receiving future funding, we needed to show the work being done to prepare the provider market by submitting the results of a cost of care exercise for both 65+ care homes, and 18+ domiciliary care to the Department of Health and Social Care by 14 October 2022.

We worked with providers in Tameside to complete the Fair Cost of Care and Market Sustainability exercise, using a combination of tools made available for each sector, and a questionnaire designed to support and maximise returns from our providers. This work was completed across July and August 2022 and the formal return for the Government was submitted on 14 October 2022.
