Community Champions

Working together to protect our Tameside community

The Tameside Community Champions network empowers our residents and workforces with the information they need to lead the way in the community. Our Community Champions have a vital role to play and are well placed to act as key message carriers and to lead by good example.

To do this, the council will ensure that timely and accurate information is shared with our champions to support them to respond to and reassure the residents within their community, including COVID-19 and other Health and Wellbeing Issues

Armed with the latest advice and guidance, our champions can help family, friends and other community members to understand the latest facts about Health and Wellbeing and what we can all do in order to protect ourselves, each other, and prevent the spread of infectious diseases.

…and beyond

The champions initiative opens up vital conversations between the council and residents and provides a channel for communication and working together.
The network has continued to develop with a growing focus on tackling wider health and inequality issues across the borough, and bringing our diverse communities together.

Our sessions and projects have a varied focus- including digital inclusion, alcohol and substance misuse, hate crime awareness, physical activity and even practising meditation and mindfulness. Lots of the topics have been suggestions from champions themselves so there is something for everyone.

Workshops are also run, which provide training to champions to help support them in having positive conversations about health, to support their own networks and communities – Please see our latest workshop is below.

During Spring 2023 we will be bringing to you a new series of Workshops – please keep a look out for Eventbrite Invitations
