Engineering Service

The Engineering Service has overall responsibility for:

• Ensuring safe working practices are achieved by all contractors working on the highway.
• Developing and monitoring the effectiveness of the Council's programme of local road safety schemes, traffic calming and 20mph zone programme.
• Promoting public transport initiatives and developing transportation strategies and schemes.
• Promoting recycling initiatives and developing appropriate strategies and schemes.
• Safeguarding and improving the quality of the environment.
• Manage off-street pay and display parking.
• Improving and maintaining the condition of the Highway Network and infrastructure.
