Registration of Births

The service has to meet certain statutory obligations with regard to he registration of births, but in addition to these:

We will:

• Arrange an appointment to register at a time convenient to you within official opening hours
• Offer a choice of format of birth certificate
• Issue the birth certificate and other relevant documents at the time of registration take a declaration of details of births in other areas
• Offer a comprehensive advice service in respect of birth registrations, either by telephone or in person
• Endeavour to complete the registration within 30 minutes

You can help us by:

• Making an appointment to register by telephoning the office as soon after the birth as possible
• Arriving at the office in good time for your appointment
• Remembering that people are also in the office to register deaths, and respecting their needs also
• Telling us of any improvements to the service which you would like to see
