A560

Have your say on plans for the A560 in Hattersley

We're asking residents, businesses and road users to share their views on proposals to improve the A560 between Hattersley Roundabout and Green Lane, Gee Cross.

The consultation opens on 17 August 2026 and gives you the opportunity to help shape plans that could make it safer and easier for everyone to travel through the area.

About the proposals

The plans form part of a "Streets for All" scheme designed to improve connections across Hattersley and make everyday journeys easier and safer.

The proposed improvements include:
•    wider footpaths
•    resurfaced roads and footpaths
•    improved pedestrian crossings
•    safer junctions
•    better bus stops
•    new separated cycle lanes

The scheme would improve access to local shops, services and the recently upgraded railway station. It would benefit people who walk, wheel, cycle, use public transport and drive.

Why we're consulting

We're committed to creating streets that are safer, more accessible and better connected for everyone.
The designs are currently at concept stage and we want to hear from the people who know the area best. Whether you live, work or travel through Hattersley, your views will help us develop a scheme that works for the community and all those who use the A560.

What's next?

The project is currently part of a funding bid and funding has not yet been secured.
If funding is approved, work is expected to begin in summer 2027 and would take around 12 months to complete.
