Book of Remembrance
Tameside's Book of Remembrance is located in the Remembrance Room at Dukinfield Cemetery to provide a lasting record and dignified memorial.
The Book
The half-yearly volumes of the Book of Remembrance are hand-made throughout, using proven traditional bookbinding techniques.
The vellum cover bears the Coat of Arms of the Borough, and is finished with gold leaf tooling and semi-precious stones.
Two pages are allocated to each day of the year, and the Book is displayed open at the appropriate day in a protective glass case so that entries may be seen on each anniversary of the date of death.
With entries of five or more lines, space is available to enhance the memorial by the inclusion of a miniature work of art such as a floral emblem, animals, birds, badges of societies and organisations, regimental badges, crests and coats of arms.
The Book of Remembrance is now also available to view online at - www.remembrance-books.com/dukinfield
The Memorial
The memorial entries are carefully executed by highly skilled artists, and inscribed under the date of death with the wording of your choice penned in red and black ink.
