Direct Debit (DD)

Direct Debit is the easiest and most convenient method for making payments of invoices and for setting up future payments. 

As soon as you have set up a Direct Debit over the telephone, or your completed Direct Debit instruction is received, your instalments will be collected by Direct Debit on the next available date. 

You will be notified of your instalments and the dates they will be collected by letter.




The Direct Debit Guarantee

  • This Guarantee is offered by all banks and building societies that accept instructions to pay Direct Debits.  
  • If there are any changes to the amount, date or frequency of your Direct Debit Tameside Council will notify you 10 working days in advance of your account being debited or as otherwise agreed. If you request  Tameside Council to collect a payment, confirmation of the amount and date will be given to you at the time of the request.
  • If an error is made in the payment of your Direct Debit, by Tameside Council or your bank or building society, you are entitled to a full and immediate refund of the amount paid from your bank or building society. If you receive a refund you are not entitled to, you must pay it back when Tameside Council asks you to.
  • You can cancel a Direct Debit at any time by simply contacting your bank or building society. Written confirmation may be required. Please also notify us.

Online Payments

Pay by credit/debit card, via our secure network, using the Online Payment Form for any of the following:

  • General Invoices
  • Adult Social Care & Community Alarm Invoices
  • Trade Waste Invoices
  • Commercial Rent & Ground Rent Invoices
  • Market Rent & Service Charge Invoices

We will receive your credit details using a secure server. This means the transaction   is encrypted between your machine and the authority's server.

Payments by Telephone

Payment by Debit/Credit Card can be made using our 24 hour payment line number 0330 008 1605. You will need to select Option 5 and have your invoice number ready, this can be found on your invoice.

Standing Orders and Bacs

Payments can be made by Standing Order (at your bank) or by Bacs. To ensure your payment reaches your account you must quote the following:

  • Tameside MBC
  • Your Invoice reference (this can be found on your bill)
  • Your name
  • Sort code 20-05-09
  • Account No.33782840
  • Account name: Tameside MBC Suspense
  • Barclays
