We can provide you with an interpreter if the Deaf Service User you are dealing with communicates using:
- British Sign Language (BSL).
- Sign Supported English (SSE).
- Deaf/Blind.
- Lipspeaker (Hard of Hearing).
We will interpret in a variety of settings, for example:
- Housing applications.
- Council tax enquiries.
- Hospital meetings and consultations.
- Welfare rights services.
- Parent / teacher interviews.
- GP appointments.
- Adult Services Meetings.
- Open Consultations meetings.
What the service provides
The service provides confidential, professional and highly qualified interpretation between sign language and spoken English.
We aim to be as flexible and responsive as possible and will act as an aid to communication between Deaf and hearing people.
Is there a charge?
No. The service is free of charge for all providers of health in Tameside and Glossop and service providers from Tameside MBC.
We are also able to provide Interpreting services to private and voluntary organisations. However, charges may be requested. Please telephone the service to check details about the free service.
