Fresh Start Clubs
PURPOSE - To support and re - engaging Communities following lock downs and recovery from Covid 19 over last 2 and half years
Project Aims
- To improve opportunities for residents to access safe, informal social interaction and develop networks in a local setting
- Gateway to engage with isolated residents and long term covid
- To help combat loneliness
- Make new or find old friends
- Utilise the Centre/Church/space to provide a caring, supportive & welcoming place for residents to ‘drop-in’ and have some tea / toast / crumpet / a chat
- Possible support to new people moving into the area also possible integration for Ukrainian families
- Help identify any local issues or support groups needed
Project Objectives
- Help resident to re-engage with local community and beyond
- Building residents confidence, wellbeing & self esteem
- To ‘enable’ residents to live more fulfilling lives
- Volunteers will be utilised to develop their skills & help run the café
- Make sustainable by building capacity with community
- Reduced social isolation, increased opportunities for social networking (assisted by friendly staff & volunteers)
- To ‘normalise’ the project so anyone can feel they can drop in for a cuppa & a chat
