Rewards and Benefits

At Tameside, we recognise the hard work and commitment demonstrated by our employees every day, and we have a great Rewards & Benefits package available, to say Thank You!

Flexible Working

ClockAt Tameside, we understand that work-life balance is really important, and we want to support our employees to find a balance that works for both the individual and the needs of the service, and so working flexibly is encouraged where possible, with many of our services operating a flexi-time scheme.  We also have a number of policies and procedures in place that support flexible working, including generous schemes covering a career break, maternity, paternity and adoption leave; and applications for formal flexible working arrangements are welcomed including compressed hours and working a 9 day fortnightly working pattern.

Greater Manchester Continuous Service Commitment

PeopleTameside Council has signed up to the Greater Manchester Continuous Service Commitment. That means we will recognise your continuous or ‘unbroken’ service in any Greater Manchester local authority or NHS organisation, Transport for Greater Manchester, Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service or Greater Manchester Combined Authority, giving you access to our service-related benefits.

Annual Leave

Employees get up to 31 days leave per year depending on pay grade, which is in addition to statutory bank holidays. Part time workers have their leave calculated on a pro-rata basis depending on the amount of hours they work. We also operate a Holiday Purchase scheme which enables you to apply to purchase additional leave.

Green Travel

Cycle

To support the Council’s commitment to being more carbon literate, employees are encouraged to choose greener ways of travelling.  To support this, the Council offers a Cycle to Work Salary Sacrifice Scheme, which means employees can purchase a bike, including the option of an e-bike, up to the value of £5,000!

The Council also has a car lease salary sacrifice scheme which is designed to provide eligible employees with competitively priced and trouble free motoring.
