Participation and the Local Authority

As your corporate parent we want you to feel listened to, we want you to have options to engage in developing the local authority and improving the local offer on a yearly basis so that it is kept up-to-date and current. By working together we can achieve more this means involving you every step of the way.
Care Leavers sit on interview panels to select staff across the directorates for permanent appointments.
Meetings with Senior Leaders so that they can hear directly from you about what is working well and what needs to change. We are part of the National Benchmarking Forum and at regional and national events there are always places for Care leavers to attend. Care Leaver Forum is a group of care leavers aged 16-25. Young people meet fortnightly and are able to share views and have conversations that lead to changes in service delivery. For those that can’t make meetings we can do virtual meetings on Skype or Zoom. Please contact your Social worker, PA or Debbie Wood for dates and times.

Consultations

Any changes to service delivery requires consultation with Care Leavers. Over the past few years Care Leavers have contributed and challenged he Corporate Parenting Plan, the Local Offer, Website design,
